The Embassy of Finland in Spain and the Madrid Institute have worked hard and accomplished outstanding communication and PR-work. At the moment, they are negotiating about where the exhibition might be continued. At the moment, environmentally-friendly design is the height of fashion in Spain!

The NowHere Finland 2012 exhibition on display at the Sibelius Hall in Lahti

The Finnish tour of the exhibition had its final stop at the Sibelius Hall in Lahti. The exhibition attracted 1,933 visitors between 4–22 September 2012. The mounting of the exhibition in the Carpenter’s Workshop was designed by the regional artist for design, Paula Susitaival from the Arts Council of Häme. On 24 September, the exhibition was packed up once again and sent to Madrid, where it will open on 19 October 2012.

The NowHere Finland 2012 exhibition a crowd favourite in Savonlinna

The NowHere Finland 2012 exhibition at the Savonlinna Provincial Museum Riihisaari attracted 11,855 visitors between 15 June and 26 August 2012.

An exhibition in Savonlinna

The NowHere Finland 2012 exhibition has opened at the Savonlinna Provincial Museum. The exhibition was opened on 14 June by its patron Matti Viialainen, Director of the Regional Council. The opening ceremony was attended by the exhibition contributors, local designers, and local business figures. The mounting of the exhibition in the atmospheric Riihisaari museum building was designed by Anu-Anette Varho, South Savo Regional Artist for Architecture and Visual Environment.

NowHere Finland 2012 present at the Design Round Table 2012

The National Council for Design and Demos Helsinki organised a seminar on the internationalisation of design on 8 June 2012 as part of Helsinki’s World Design Capital year. The seminar was held in the Pavilion that was built between the Design Museum and the Museum of Finnish Architecture for the summer. The event’s participants included representatives from regional arts councils, international guests from every Nordic country and Estonia, and Finnish designers and important figures in the design field.

NowHere Finland 2012 sent one representative from each regional arts council to the Pavilion. The regional artist for design, Paula Susitaival from the Arts Council of Häme, put together the exhibition, which displayed works by the following artists and companies: Anniina Nurmi / Nurmi Design Oy, Annika Heikkinen, Henna Mantere, Jan Torstensson / Lasistudio Jan Torstensson, Janne Salokannel, Kimmo Heikkilä, Lotta Mönkäre / Valkyrian Designs, Saana ja Olli, Seppo Rissanen / OlkiQ, SULOisia värejä! / Ulla Lapiolahti ja Päivi Hintsanen, Tenka Issakainen, Tiina Kylliäinen ja Timo Niskanen.

The exhibition packed up in Jyväskylä

After the exhibition ended, a conservator from the Craft Museum of Finland inspected the condition of the exhibits. Then the museum staff packed them up in transport boxes and put them on pallets. The exhibition will next be open to the public at the Savonlinna Provincial Museum on 15 June 2012.

A lively spring of design at the Craft Museum of Finland

During the NowHere Finland 2012 and ‘Muoto koossa’ exhibitions, the Craft Museum of Finland had 8,934 visitors. Nearly 1,200 were second-grade students for whom the museum organised guided tours and design workshops.

The NowHere Finland 2012 exhibition at the Craft Museum of Finland ends on 13 May 2012. By 1st of May, the exhibition had had approximately 6,600 visitors, who gave it very positive feedback. The exhibition will next be open to the public in Savonlinna on 15 June 2012. In Jyväskylä there were lectures and workshops in service design and bin colouring organised in connection with the exhibition.

The ‘Muoto koossa’ event organised alongside the NowHere Finland 2012 design exhibition at the Craft Museum of Finland has given local design from Central Finland more visibility. The Materia ry association organised the four ‘Muoto koossa’ exhibitions in the entrance gallery of the Craft Museum of Finland, the Tiimiakatemia entrepreneurship centre organised the Jyväskylä Design Week on 19–25 March 2012, and the museum also featured a pop-up store for Central Finland crafts and design.
